Kevin & Erinne in love_a cinematic inspiration (Greenville, SC)

This is not an engagement session
Kevin & Erinne's couples session wasn't for an engagement or an upcoming wedding. Already married, these two took a break from their busy life to celebrate the love that brought them together. The following images are one of our most ambitious projects to date. We drew inspiration from a number of fashion and cinematic sources, (perhaps you'll even recognize the inspiration) creating specific ideas that would translate into something entirely different from the norm for couples photography.
The best way to look at these images
To help you see what we were going for in these images, I wanted to give you a few thoughts on how to view these.
Several images below were intended to tell a story, freeze an emotion in time so it would look as if they're still in movement. Look at some of the kisses and watch how it looks like she's about to brush his lips right before they kiss. Or another where she's rushing in from the side, impatient to greet her love from a long day. Yet another is like time standing still, life blurry around them, falling away until only the sunset and their beating hearts remain….
We've also created several images that were conceptual in nature; imagine a movie poster, or a story unfolding, showing snippets of what's to come inside that particular tale.
A new way to think about couples photography
Finally, there are several images where two single images are put together side by side. I know we've done this before when posting sessions on the blog, however this is different. Many of those side-by-side images are in fact ONE image, and have been sized in the 3:4 ratio format (i.e. the standard ratio for an 5×7, 8×10, 16×20, etc..).
What you're looking at is a new way to approach couples photography. Why have the couples always embracing each other, or in the same slide as one another? Why not have the couple interacting individually, telling their story in a new way that doesn't involve cheek to cheek smiles? An example below is her blowing a flower releasing the seeds, and it looks as if her flower is entering his side of the image; even though his image is an entirely different slide.
There's more thought put into each image than may initially meet the eye. See if you can see our thought processes and how we've created a "couples cohesiveness" within individual slides fused together as one; It also happens to make a beautiful metaphor about marriage eh?
never stop dreaming…
