I long for the coming age of innocence...

Asher,

I love it when you see me and your eyes light up brighter than I deserve. You think I'm cooler than I really am; and I'll take it because, I know one day, you'll be a teenager. :)

I love when you tackle me and ask, "daddy, play with me!"; when you climb on my back and use me as a jungle gym. You amaze me with your wit, your words, your logic, and you help keep my heart from growing cold.

I love it when I tell a story and you correct me and say "no, no, the story really goes like this...." :D

I love your imagination, your joy, your laughter.

...memories..

I love that morning you laid outside my bedroom door asking me to open it, requesting I put a shirt on because you wanted to hop on my back and play. And when I opened the door without doing so, you promptly closed the door, asked me again to put the shirt on, and then told me to stick my fingers under the door to let you know when your request had been completed.....

I love watching you play in the present moment; reminding me of the power I give up everytime I worry about the past, and try to control the future.

In many ways, I hope to be like you, but overall I just love being your dad.

You are doing the right thing by treasuring the moments! As a father of five, I can attest, like so many others, that you will be surprised how fast time flies. I think I told you that I attended one of David A. Williams "Almost Alone" seminars. His main message was to make sure we as photographers regularly capture images of our families. Which is hard since we are regularly capturing images of others. Have a great weekend! Don
